Plastiform 2010

November 2010
PLASTIFORM is the first Reusable Plastic Concrete Forming System, invented by Green Plastics in 1986 and is guaranteed for 7 years. It is comprised of hollow, polyethylene plastic boards that are spliced together with H-shaped plastic connectors. The boards are held tightly with cam lock clamps to wood or metal stakes that can be placed anywhere along the back side of the forms.
PLASTIFORM is available in 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10, 2x12’s and come in 12- and 16-foot lengths. A variety of accessories are now available including long flexible form connectors, cantilever pool deck forms, adjustable kickers that twist in place, curb and gutter spacer brackets, and all-angle corner connectors that swing a full 270 degrees to form inside and outside corners or anywhere in between.

PLASTIFORM Applications & Advantages
PLASTIFORM is used to easily form sidewalks, walkways, slabs, pool decks, stair steps, golf cart paths, curb and gutter, foundations, footings, handicapped ramps, storm drains, and manholes.
Contractors can set up, pour, finish, and strip easily in 1 day rather than the normal 3- to 4-day process required when wood or metal forms are used.
Though PLASTIFORM may cost a little more than lumber, it can be used up to 1,000 times and pays for itself in five uses or less. While maintaining this durability, Plastiform is also flexible and can be used for straight or curved applications. It can make a radius as small as 3 feet. While most lumber warps, polyethylene’s memory forces it to return to its original extruded straight shape after being used to create tight curves.
Even though PLASTIFORM is guaranteed for 7 years, contractors quickly become aware of its dramatic labor saving advantages almost immediately. As a result, most contractors are no longer reluctant to cut an occasional board into a variety of shorter reusable pieces which can be plugged together to fill in at the end of a run. They realize that having a set of shorter pieces available to finish a run is a very small price to pay for the overwhelming savings in labor.
PLASTIFORM is a LEED CERTIFIED product and as the use of lumber continues to become more politically and environmentally frowned upon, it will eventually become mandatory to replace it with reusable and recyclable alternatives such as Plastiform. Plastiform has eliminated the cutting of tens of thousands of trees over the last 2 decades. At the end of its usable life( 15 years or more), Plastiform can be recycled into a variety of other products such as park benches and plastic deck material. ■
