From its humble beginnings in 1971, Mi-T-M Corporation has become a highly innovative and respected manufacturer of industrial equipment. This success story begins with AJ Spiegel, founder of Mi-T-M who, through personal experience, realized the need for small, affordable cleaning equipment, which led him to design and build a 1000-psi pressure washer, aptly named the “Mighty 1000.”
Through hard work and dedication, Mi-T-M soon became a thriving business in the small farming community of Peosta, Iowa, adding more products to its pressure washer lineup. The company grew and expanded its work force by more than four times in 1982 and was manufacturing over 100 different models of pressure washers.
Because Mi-T-M understood the value of water conservation, it was important to add equipment that could reclaim and recycle excess wash water generated by pressure washers, so in 1998, Mi-T-M added a water reclaim system to its product line. The state-of-the-art Mi-T-M Biological System remains a big part of the Mi-T-M product line today along with several other water treatment systems that are built to the specifications of Mi-T-M customers.
Constantly looking for new ways to grow the company, Mi-T-M began manufacturing industrial grade air compressors and wet and dry vacuums in 1999.
Known for its high-quality equipment and outstanding customer service in the industrial equipment industry, it wasn’t long before customers were approaching Mi-T-M asking them to add more equipment to its product line. In the last decade, Mi-T-M added jobsite boxes, construction grade portable generators, and the multipurpose compressor generator combination to its product line. In 2009, a large assortment of portable heaters began bearing the familiar gold Mi-T-M logo.
Just this year, Mi-T-M added to its portable heater line. The new Job Site Series Indirect heaters are built tough for the construction site, but are also ideal for drying and heating in emergency situations. The new Elite Series Directional heaters feature a simple operation that’s perfect for tent and party applications.
Today, the sprawling Mi-T-M complex includes a 390,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and a 400,000-square-foot state-of-the-art warehouse. In the last 40 years, Mi-T-M Corporation has become an “American Success Story.”
As chairman and chief executive officer of Mi-T-M, AJ Spiegel’s entrepreneurial spirit is a large part of the company today. Born out of an opportunity to fulfill a need, that philosophy is what drives the company forward. ■
